Wild Cows

The last week of September we had a long weekend visit from my highschool friend Chrissy, her husband Mike and son Andrew. We had a lovely time with them all...here are some of the highlights.

A late afternoon trip to the zoo- Jesse surprised us and showed up as we were just finishing our walk to the zoo from the house. It was a beautiful day out and the zoo wasn't too busy so the kids got to see lots of the animals up close. This was especially cool for little Andrew, as he is always fighting large crowds at his hometown zoo.

We took a drive to view the fall foliage and stopped for lunch at a very old fashioned german restaurant. We nearly got kicked out when Jesse ordered the sausage platter without the kraut, and Chrissy ordered a chicken sandwhich- which the waiter "jokingly" reffered to as a chilly cheese dog. Then we drove to Jesse's parents house, and passed through an open range- to which Chrissy asked if we were looking at "wild cows". That cracked us up so much, it became the tag line for the remainder of the trip. We then hit the "Resort", where we happily left the children and headed out for an adult evening.

I was lucky enough to score 4 amazing tickets to our hockey team, and although it was pre-season, 7 rows off the glass is never a bad thing. We had a great time, eating drinking and waiting to see a fight to occur (although it never happened). We also had quite a time trying to explain the game to Chrissy- it was her first pro hockey game- and I think she's still quite not sure about the blue line rule. At this game, I also decided that Siven should learn to play hockey. Its a great physical sport, a team game and not a "typical" sport like football or soccer.

The rest of the trip was pretty laid back. We sat around and watched a football game on Sunday, and on Monday Chrissy & Mike took a day to explore downtown and also took Andrew to the aquarium.

All in all it was a great visit, so fun to catch up and also fun to watch the kids play together. We're now looking forward to our visit to their hometurf in November.
