December
Argh. This happened last year too... things got too busy and hectic and I am now post-writing about December. Oh well, at least I'm catching up. Here's the condensed version of the month:
- Jesse's office party was downtown at a bowling alley. We had a blast hanging out with his co-workers and more fun staying at a hotel downtown so we were able to get snookered.
- Addie got sick twice, not fun as she was a real pill, but who could blame the girl. Having a high fever, an earache and teething all at the same time stinks!
- Jesse noticed that her first two teeth broke through on Christmas Eve, while we were at the candlelight service.
- Speaking of Church, we were asked as a family to light the advent wreath. Siven and Jesse lit the candles, while I read the scripture and the pastor graciously held Addie.
- I got a girls weekend with Kristin and Merrie in Tyler Texas. With the exception of the wretched American Airlines, I had a blast seeing the two of them and celebrating Merrie's 30th b-day with her.
- Jesse had surgery. He had is tonsils & his uvula (the dangle thing at the back of the throat) removed and his sinus cavity re sculpted to alleviate sleep apnea. He is still recovering from this.
- Siven spent the entire month singing Christmas songs and listening to Christmas songs on the radio- whenever we were in the car. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is his favorite song and NO ONE was allowed to sing it with him.
- Siven and I made cookies for Santa and bought him beer. Siven picked out a 6-pack of micro brews that had Christmas trees, snow and mountains on the package because it looked like Christmas.
- We cut down our own Christmas tree, on a big family gathering. The pine tree looked nice in the house, smelled AMAZING, and didn't get decorated till Christmas Eve after the kids were in bed.
- Siven cried, again, at the site of seeing Santa. He told us all month how he was not going to cry to show Addie that she didn't need to be scared...but that didn't really work out for him. I had to sit on Santa's lap with him (yeah Santa didn't mind that) so he could conjure up what he wanted for presents. Addie on the other hand, sat on his lap with out a problem and even gave Santa a few good tugs on his beard.
- Siven and Addie both LOVED Christmas morning. Siven made out like a bandit- the whole couch was covered in his toys. Addie liked grabbing at the wrapping paper and pulling on it- then would promptly try and put it in her mouth. Apparently she was a very good girl as well, because she made out well too.
- We got snow, finally, in December. Siven LOVES the snow. He helps shovel, plow, and likes to throw snowballs at whomever he can. He likes eating it (we're trying to teach him to not eat dirty snow) and really likes swimming in it. He just dives right in and starts crawling around and swimming through it. He also has enjoyed sledding a few times- and has had a couple of instances of being thrown out of the sled- but still wants to do it more.
- My mom and brother visited post Christmas. It was a short visit, but a really good one. The kids enjoyed seeing them too.
- Christmas with Dotty and Jerry was late- they got snowed in on Christmas morning (we got about 8" at our place) so we did Christmas with them on New Years Day. Siven was so excited for Nana to open her presents he handed her one and said here Nana open your Parrot! We had gotten her a parrot wine bottle holder.
